Who is responsible for correct CLP labeling and SDS?
It is always the company that markets or sells the product that is responsible for ensuring that the CLP label and SDS are correct and up to date. VARSL helps you ensure that you meet that responsibility automatically.
Is SDS in English legal in Denmark?
No. According to the CLP and REACH regulations, safety data sheets (SDS) must always be in the official language of the country where the product is sold. In Denmark, SDS must therefore be in Danish.
Are CLP and REACH the same?
No. CLP is about classification, labeling, and packaging, while REACH regulates registration and safety data. VARSL handles both areas via updated SDS and correct CLP data.
How should CLP labels be displayed on my webshop?
CLP data must be displayed directly on the product’s main page – at least one hazard pictogram, signal word, and H- and P-phrases. VARSL provides ready-made data fields for webshops or via API.
What does the CLP regulation require online?
For online sales, hazard symbols, signal words, and H- and P-phrases must be clearly and visibly displayed directly on the product page. It is not enough to only link to a PDF – the information must be visible to the customer when the product is presented.
Can I place CLP data in a subpage or tab?
Yes, you are welcome to have an extra tab with detailed information, but the most important CLP elements (pictograms, signal words, H- and P-phrases) must always be visible on the product page itself.
How does VARSL ensure that SDS are always up to date?
VARSL monitors changes in CLP and REACH rules as well as product classifications. When new versions are released, old SDS are automatically replaced with the latest ones – so you always have valid documentation.
How are changes in legislation handled?
VARSL monitors changes in CLP and REACH rules and automatically updates all associated SDS and CLP data – you don’t have to do anything manually.
What happens if a product is missing an SDS?
Products without a valid SDS must not be marketed. VARSL’s webshop scanning automatically finds products without SDS, so you can get control of them.
What should labels look like according to CLP?
CLP labels must contain hazard symbols, signal words, H-/P-phrases, supplier info, and any EUH-phrases.
What happens if I do not comply with the CLP rules?
Missing or incorrect labeling can lead to orders, fines, or supervision from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency. VARSL ensures that your products always comply with the requirements.
How often are the CLP rules updated?
The CLP regulation is constantly changing. VARSL automatically follows ECHA and EU updates, so you don’t have to do anything manually.

How does CLP-Helper work?
CLP-Helper automates CLP labeling and SDS management. You simply enter EAN numbers or import product data, and the system delivers correct hazard labeling and updated SDS – directly to your webshop.
Can I import my existing SDS?
Yes, you can upload your current SDS files. VARSL then keeps them updated automatically, so you don’t have to do manual work.
How do I ensure that my products are always up to date?
VARSL monitors changes in CLP and REACH rules as well as product classifications. Our crawler can scan your webshop and identify outdated or missing CLP data, which is then updated automatically.
Can my customers automatically receive SDS upon purchase?
Yes. As an extra function, CLP-Helper can send the latest SDS directly to the customer by e-mail when the product requires it. This provides both better service and documented compliance.
Is VARSL only for webshops?
No. VARSL and CLP-Helper are also used by manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers. All companies that handle products with CLP requirements can use the system.
Can I start small and scale up?
Yes. We offer both a flexible clip model (VARSL Go) for small needs and full subscriptions (Pro/Enterprise) for larger companies. You can always upgrade later.
How and when should SDS be delivered to the customer?
SDS must be delivered free of charge to professional customers, no later than the same day the product is delivered for the first time. With VARSL, you can automate it – the system automatically sends the latest SDS to the customer in the correct language.
What language should the SDS be in?
SDS must be in the official language of the country where the product is marketed.
- In Denmark, SDS must be in Danish.
- In Sweden, SDS must be in Swedish.
- In Germany, SDS must be in German.
VARSL handles this automatically via language management.
Can VARSL deliver SDS directly to my customers?
Yes. VARSL can automatically send SDS by e-mail every time a customer buys a product that requires an SDS. It is both legal, time-saving, and provides professional customer service.
What happens if SDS is not delivered correctly?
Missing delivery or incorrect language version can lead to orders or fines from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency in case of supervision. VARSL ensures that your SDS are delivered correctly – every time.
Why is the automatic SDS function important?
REACH requires that SDS be delivered to professional customers upon first delivery and in the local language. VARSL can do this automatically, so you avoid errors and save time.

How are SDS versions and history handled?
VARSL stores version data for each SDS and automatically replaces old versions. You always have the latest – without manual work.
Can I see when an SDS was last updated?
Yes. The system shows version date, change history, and source for each document
What happens if a product is missing an SDS?
According to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, products without a valid SDS must not be sold. VARSL automatically finds and marks products that are missing SDS, so you can correct them.
How are suppliers' updated SDS handled?
When a supplier changes an SDS, VARSL registers the change and automatically replaces the old version.
How does version control of SDS work?
VARSL tracks all versions and ensures that the latest is automatically published in the webshop or ERP. Older versions are saved as history.
What if my product is not classified as hazardous?
Products without classification must still be displayed correctly as “non-hazardous”. VARSL handles this automatically, so your product data remains consistent.
Can my customers automatically receive SDS upon purchase?

Yes. CLP-Helper supports integration with most platforms – including Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento, PrestaShop, SmartWeb, Visma, e-conomic, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Perfion, Pimcore, and Akeneo.

How does updating from supplier data work?
VARSL can retrieve data directly from supplier databases via API and synchronize new SDS and classifications automatically.
Can I integrate VARSL into my own PIM system?
Yes. VARSL supports Perfion, Pimcore, and Akeneo – with the possibility of webhooks and user-defined mapping.
How does your API solution work?
Our REST API provides full access to CLP and SDS data. You can retrieve hazard symbols, H-/P-phrases, signal words, and safety data sheets via secure JSON calls. See more at API solution.
Can VARSL crawl my webshop?
Yes. The system can scan your entire product range, find missing CLP information, and update old SDS files.
Can I import my existing SDS?
Yes. You can upload your own SDS, and the system will then keep them automatically updated.
Can I get help with setup in my webshop?
Yes. We offer both guides, support, and direct technical setup, so CLP data and SDS are displayed correctly on your product pages.
How long does an integration take?
Webshop integration typically takes less than one day. ERP/PIM integration depends on the system and data volume, but normally 3-10 working days.

Can I try the system for free?
Yes, you can try CLP-Helper for free for a limited period before choosing a subscription.
How does payment work?
All subscriptions are invoiced once a year (12 months binding). Prices are shown per month for comparison.
Can I upgrade my subscription along the way?

The system notifies you, and you can easily upgrade your plan so that all products remain covered.
Can I get a discount for multi-year agreements?
Yes, especially for Enterprise agreements. Contact us for an individual price.
